Backyard Studio Space

Highly energy-efficient studio utilizing an air-to-water heat pump system for hydronic flooring and domestic hot water. The exterior siding is comprised of a thermally modified Shou Sugi Ban, a Japanese wood preservation technique that involves charring the surface of wood, and cedar protected with Booge penetrating oil.

Modern Addition

Exposed beams and 2×6 tongue-and-groove eaves add a nice touch to this remodel and addition. The combination of stucco and Shou sugi ban, along with the large windows, creates a bright, elevated aesthetic that allows plenty of light to enter a spacious, airy interior.

Mountain Home With Fun Siding

Working together with our clients, we developed a unique approach to working with Hardiboard cement siding. The definition and play of light and dark, achieved at the entryway, is especially interesting. A three-tiered deck system provides excellent views of the indian peaks area
